Upping the Protein

Originally for my afternoon snack I wanted to make a fruit and yogurt bowl, but when I opened my container of Fage I discovered it was almost frozen!  I guess my refrigerator is set too low!  In an attempt to salvage my yogurt, I went with a fruit smoothie instead!

Ghetto Blender. Will trade sexual favors for a Vita-Mix.

Into the blender went:

  • 1 cup 2% Fage
  • Juice of 1/2 grapefruit
  • 1 chopped kiwi (It’s summer in Australia!)
  • 1 frozen banana (Luckily I had one freezing at the moment!)
  • ~ 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp ground flax

The final product doesn’t look so great, but it was very tasty and filling!  In retrospect, I probably should have used orange juice instead of grapefruit because then I wouldn’t have needed the honey.  Still very good, though and it didn’t break the calorie bank!

For dinner I made us Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi (Recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/ginger-glazed-mahi-mahi/Detail.aspx).  I substituted ground ginger for fresh ginger, but it was still really good!


Our plates.  Multiply that glass of cheap CVS wine times two.  In my defense, I found out I got into law school today!  Not my first choice school, but it’s good to know that I got in somewhere!  On the side, we had roasted baby carrots.  Tossed in olive oil, sea salt, and ground pepper and cooked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.  Topped with fresh chopped dill.  Very good!  Even Pete, who doesn’t like cooked carrots, liked them!

Calorie Intake: 1,764 cal; Calories Burned: 293 cal; Calorie Balance: 1,471 cal

Ok, back to Biggest Loser (love O’neal!) and my vino!  Work is cancelled again tomorrow.  I may have to force myself to stop at one glass of wine!
